Boxe XTZ Cinema S2 Atmosphere

The Cinema S2 was built to offer a maximum of flexibility which enables you to build up the best possible 3D surround system in your home cinema. It is ideal for 3D-Audio Systems like Auro-3D or DTS: X. The angled front of the S2 provides a perfect positioning and focus on the listening position. It can also be used as a surround speaker in difficult environments. Due to its high-quality coaxial driver and the optimized cabinet, it's able to cover all the dynamics of the surround effects in a very natural way. Experience the unique surround sound produced by this speaker and you will have the feeling of being immersed in the film′s enveloping sound field.

By using identical materials as those used for the Cinema M6 and S5 speakers, the S2 harmonizes perfectly with the other speakers of the Cinema series. The Cinema S2 features a coaxial driver with 13 cm diameter. Thanks to its high quality mounting, the sound produced by the S2 is very detailed and it outputs an extremely homogeneous sound field. Due to the point source characteristics of the coaxial driver, the group delay is minimal. The S2 is an ideal presence speaker for current and future 3D sound formats.

The housing of the Cinema S2 is designed as a left and right version. Combined with the angled front, this ensures a perfect radiation pattern towards the listener. The trapezoid shape of the S2 minimizes internal resonances and at the same time provides maximum flexibility for the installation. The Cinema S2 has countersunk threads for attaching the Cinema Flushmount Kit for on-wall mounting or in ceiling (sold separately). When used as Elevation-Speakers, the Cinema S2 can be attached to the top of the Cinema M6 using the supplied screws.

For the surface of the Cinema S2 a special anti-reflection coating is used. The matte black anti-reflective polyurethane paint is applied in 8 layers to provide an optimal result. Afterwards, an ornate polishing ensures a perfect and very appealing finish. Thus, disturbing light reflections on the surface of the speaker can be reduced to a minimum when using a projector. Optionally, the S2 can also be ordered in matte white paint to better blend with a neutral décor.

The rear panel connectors of the Cinema S2 are gold-plated to minimize the transmission resistance. The smooth-running and extremely stable screw terminals allow a secure fit and optimum connection for your cable. The cabinet offers a cable channel to hide the speaker wire for an easy installation.

The front cover of the Cinema S5 attaches using a magnetic mount. Its black acoustic material is opaque and nevertheless is completely transparent to sound. It protects the drivers from potential damage. The XTZ Cinema logo is magnetic and its attachment to the S5 is very easy offering location flexibility.

The midrange woofers used in the M6, S5 and the S2 speakers utilize cones comprised of a very strong, long fiber pulp blend of material treated with a specialized coating compound which offers maximum strength and rigidity while maintaining minimum mass. The 16mm soft dome tweeter sits in a dome/woofer coaxial solution where the 5.25” woofer cone acts as a wave guide. The optimized combination of cone angle, dust cap diameter and geometry provides a near perfect piston emulation, maximum cone area efficiency, and controlled high velocity characteristics in both the inward and outward directions. The driver is adapted to be able to handle high power due to its strong magnet and aluminium shorting ring. The long fiber pulp cone also has a very high sensitivity with soft clipping characteristics which provides further headroom for undistorted sound at extreme levels.

When we developed the Crossovr, a great deal of effort was put into the crossover filter and this is actually the most important aspect of a speaker. All passive components are of the highest possible quality to minimize any influence on the signal. We use an optimal selection of air wound coils (with low internal resistance) and coils with steel cores (these accept a high level of magnetic saturation), MKP capacitors and low induction resistors. The steepness of the filter is of the 4th order. The filter has an unusually low crossover point between the tweeter and midrange woofer which has several advantages.

With the Cinema Flushmount Kit you are able to mount your Cinema S2 in several ways either to the wall or the ceiling. The Flushmount Kit consists of a plate that fits on the back of the speakers and a corresponding plate that goes on the wall. The two plates easily interlock leaving enough room (15 mm) for the wires . Sold separately.
