DAC Hibiki SDS

The Hibiki SDS is a dual-mono R2R DAC with the almost unique function of being able to upscale the sampling rate of any source in DSD1024 in order to offer a signal with the highest possible resolution when converted by the resistor network. In short, the very best in digital signal processing at the service of pure analogue conversion.

Ibiki SDS : An upscale sampling rate

As we said earlier, the Hibiki SDS is capable of upscaling the sampling rate of any source in DSD1024. To achieve this, a Delta-sigma modulator is used to apply 5-bit modulation to the incoming signal (a DSD signal is conventionally processed at 1bit) in order to obtain a signal quantization worthy of a much higher sampling rate. This, combined with reverse-engineering of the way the DSD format works, means that any sampling rate can be converted directly into DSD1024. For example, the Hibiki SDS can directly upscale a DSD128 file to DSD1024 without first undergoing PCM conversion and without any loss of information.

Ibiki SDS : A silent power supply

To provide the best possible power supply for their DAC, Hibiki has adopted a power supply architecture that allows total isolation of the power supply from the conversion circuit. The result is an ultra-quiet -150dB power supply. Finally, although the Hibiki SDS has its own internal custom clock, it is compatible with external WCK and MCK clocks if you wish for it to be synchronised with other equipment.
